AFG REACHES NEW HIEGHTS
Composed of nearly 150 executives from association foundations, the Association Foundation Group reached a new plateau of service to its members in late May when it conducted the First National Conference on Association Foundations and Fund Raising in Washington DC.  The conference was chaired by WoodleyLion Principal Curtis Deane.
Conference eductional sessions included: Results of the AFG Benchmarking Survey; Are Associations and Foundations Like Venus and Mars?; Legal Issues Affecting Association Foundations; and Annual Giving Beyond Dues Check-Offs.

PROMOTING PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY
Many 501 (c)(3) organizations misunder-stand the vital role they can play in public policy debates.  Believing they are prohibited from lobbying, many fail to exercise their full rights to influence legislation and regulations.  When over 4,000 association executives gather in August at the ASAE Annual Meeting, WoodleyLion Principal Curtis Deane will lead a session examining the ability of 501(c)(3) organizations to become fully empowered in the public policy arena.

ESTATE PLANNING PROGRAMS GROW
With the aging of the baby boomer genera-tion, an increasing number of non-profit organizations are developing estate planning or planned giving programs as new means of receiving non-dues income.
For example, WoodleyLion Principal Curtis Deane is working with the staff and volunteers of the US Capitol Historical Society in launching a new estate planning program.  The program includes articles in the Society's publications and a targeted direct mail campaign.
At the ASAE Annual Meeting, Deane will lead a program on Estate Planning for Association Executives, sponsored by the ASAE Foundation.

CHARITY EVENT FEATURES "TV" COOKING SHOW
The staging of a pilot for the television show, "Urban Living, Cookin' with Curt," will be featured at the Thursday, July 17, 2003 fund raising dinner for a Washington, DC charity.
"WoodleyLion is excited to be managing this very special event for Food & Friends, an organization that does so much for our greater Washington, DC community," said Curtis Deane.  Food & Friends provides home-delivered meals to persons suffering from AIDS and other life threatening diseases.
